Michelle Kadarusman

Michelle Kadarusman grew up in Melbourne, Australia. Her middle-grade novel, Berani won the NCTA Freeman Book Award and the Wilderness Society Environment Award for Children’s Literature. Her books have earned numerous honors, including two nominations for the Governor General’s Literary Awards and a Malka Penn Award for human rights in children’s literature. More recently, Seabird was a Kirkus Reviews Best Middle Grade Book of the Year and received a Freeman Book Award Honorable Mention. Her highly acclaimed books include The Theory of Hummingbirds, Girl of the Southern Sea, Music for Tigers, Berani, We the Sea Turtles, and Seabird. Many of her novels have received Junior Library Guild Selections and USBBY Outstanding International Book. She currently divides her time between Ontario, Canada and Byron Bay, Australia.
