Wallace Edwards

Wallace Edwards is a beloved children’s author and illustrator whose vivid imagination has transformed the world of animals and strange creatures for a generation of children. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Wallace is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art, and his work can be found in numerous public and private collections. He is a popular guest speaker at conferences, literary events, schools and libraries, and he visits school classrooms across the country. Wallace’s work excites the senses and is completely original in its approach, setting him apart from so many in his field. Wallace lives in Toronto and Yarker, Ontario.

Wallace is the recipient of a multitude of awards and short lists, including winner of the Governor General’s Award, the Gold Medal from ForeWord Magazine’s Book of the Year Award, and the Children’s Choice Award from the International Reading Association for Alphabeasts; the Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Children’s Book Award, The Amelia Frances Howard-Gibbon Illustrator’s Award, the Children’s Choice Award from the International Reading Association for Monkey Business; the Canadian Library Association’s Honour for Mixed Beasts; and the Junior Library Guild Award for The Cat’s Pajamas.
