This discussion guide has been developed for use in classroom book clubs/ literature circles in which a small group of students (4–8) meet to discuss a book they are reading. The guide will offer a variety of tasks, discussion prompts, and questions to provoke thinking and deepen comprehension prior to, during, and after reading of the novel. The range of options will allow for students to reach optimal learning and success. These are suggested tasks. As it is not necessary to complete the entire list of suggestions, the educator is encouraged to make choices according to the strengths, needs and interests of the students.
